Grand Sport Row

This marked the 25th anniversary of the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport. The Grand Sport was based off the 1963 Corvette Racer (only 5 ever made) and featured Admiral Blue on the exterior with a full Arctic White stripe and two red hash marks on the front left fender. Only 1000 of the 1996 Grand Sports were ever produced (810 coupes and 190 convertibles).

Callaway Cars Aerobody Corvettes

In the mid 80’s, Chevy enlisted Callaway Cars to help them produce more HP to compete with cars from Japan and the Dodge Viper. Callaway ended up creating a twin turbo Corvette that could be sold through dealers keeping the factory warranty. While working on the twin turbo program, Reeves Callaway got the idea to break the top speed record for a production car. To do this, he and head designer for Callaway Paul Deutschman developed a new aerodynamic body kit called the Areobody and installed it on a car they dubbed “Sledgehammer”. The Sledgehammer went on to break the production car speed record recording a speed of 254.76mph. Callaway produced 125 Aerobody C4 Corvettes making these cars at Corvettes at Carlisle pretty rare.

Cunningham Cars

RestoredCunninghamIn 1960, Briggs Cunningham asked Zora Arkus-Duntov if the Corvette could compete at Le Mans. Briggs Cunningham brought three special Corvettes to Le Mans (known as the Cunningham Corvettes). Car #3 finished 8th overall and won its class in the corvette’s first run at Le Mans. Years later, Chip Miller found the Le Mans winning Corvette and set out to completely restore it back to its racing livery. The goal was to have the Cunningham Corvette ready to return the car back to Le Mans on its 50th anniversary to have the original driver take it for a commemorative lap. Unfortunately, Chip Miller passes away in 2004 before the 2010 anniversary, but his son Lance Miller finished his father’s dream and got the Cunningham Corvette to Le Mans for its commemorative lap. The #3 Cunningham Corvette is still in the Miller family’s collection. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cunningham Corvettes, the Miller family, Cunningham Automotive and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering will produce 60 commemorative C8 Corvettes modeled after the original Cunningham Corvettes.

Celebrity Choice

Top Flight Automotive was proud to be a part of the celebrity choice contest at Corvettes at Carlisle. There were many unique Corvettes to choose from so it was difficult to narrow it down to just two! Here are the Corvettes that really stood out to our celebrity judges.

The first winner that we selected was Mr. David Johnson and his gorgeous Red 1 of 1 ’91 Callaway AeroBody CR-1 with a Lingenfelter built engine. This car was unbelievably clean and unique we were very proud to select such a rare beast as one of our celebrity picks!

Our second winner was Mr. Mike Greco and his Custom White ’16 Z06 Coupe. This car was Amazing! From the wicked Vertical Doors, to the full American Car Craft treatment in the engine bay and the custom stripes/ pinstripes. He really went all out to make this Z06 stand out from the crowd, and we would be lying if we said we weren’t partial to the color scheme he chose.

Congratulations David and Mike!
