The 1968 Corvette was the first U.S.-manufactured automobile to feature a T-top. 

The T-Top Corvette was a big hit with car buyers — it outsold the convertible, eventually leading to the latter’s discontinuation from 1975 through 1986.

With the launching of the C4 generation in 1984, a Targa-style top replaced the T-top in the coupe models.

An acrylic T-top, known as the “Melrose top,” hit the market in 1983.
